World Watch – July week 4

Horses to watch from around the world...
UK Perfect Tribute
Very promising filly who was crowded over the final 200m when a good third to Soyaaya and Margot Kid in the Group 2 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. That was just her second run. She won her maiden impressively before that and the way she stuck to her task against the good fillies at the weekend suggests she is in the top bracket and one to be watched for this season’s better two-year-old races and next year’s classics.
SI Rotorua
Did a lot of the bullocking work to pressure the free-running leader Gustorika in the Group 3 Juvenile Championship at Kranji on Sunday and stuck on to beat all but the very talented Gingerbread Man. That was just the second start for the Chianti colt and he has a lot more improvement in him than most of the Singapore two-year-olds – the winner included.
SA Flying Tristram
The three-year-old is one of the forgotten runners of this week’s Group 1 Durban July but his last two wins suggest he is a genuine chance of an upset – or at least a roughie worth throwing into multiples. The narrow victory over Durban July fancy Fort Vogue a couple of weeks ago at Clairwood sits well for this race, with a massive weight drop of 8kgs bringing him into the 2000m feature at huge odds.
FR Shimraan
Very smart Rainbow Quest colt who won with authority in Group 2 company over 2000m at Maisons Laffitte on Sunday. From the De Royer-Dupre yard and has improved at each of his three starts to look a very likely type. Could step up over distances of up to 2400m at the highest level and one to watch.
